About

I began my journalism career at my college newspaper. I’ve made many stops at many sheets along the way — but the most rewarding part of my career was at the Bloomsburg Press-Enterprise, where I learned the business from the best. I earned my Ph.D. at Penn State (Media major, History minor).

Since 1998 I’ve been a professor at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh — and continue to practice the craft of journalism. My work has appeared in New York Newsday, the San Francisco Examiner, the Dallas Morning News, Primo Magazine, CNN.com, and most frequently, in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. I’ve collected some highlights in the Column Archive section.
